We are so excited that you are bringing your team to the 2026 Wavelight All American Track Classic! We have some major changes this year, which will be outlined below. We have put together this document to help answer any questions you may have.
If, after reading this document completely, you still have questions, feel free to contact Simon Griggs at allamericantrackclassic@gmail.com, he will reply with an answer as soon as possible; however, he doesn't get to be a meet director full time, so responses may be delayed during normal business hours.
Championship - Top Tier competition, some events have standards to be accepted. Every team gets two entries into every event in this division. The mark must be in a meet from this school year. This division is scored & the team champions come from this division. The top 8 in each event will receive awards.
Invitational - Our most popular events! Every team gets two entries into every event in this division. Provides teams with additional entries in popular events. The top 8 in each event will receive awards.
Junior Varsity - The mile is the most popular event, and in the JV Mile teams get unlimited entries in this event; however, athletes may only compete in the JV Mile.
The top 8 in each event will receive awards.
These new divisions mean that there are 12 more entries available to every team. We have increased capacity in the most popular events, the 400, Mile, Long Jump, Shot Put & Discus, while tooling our schedule to be done not too long past sunset on Saturday. Please consult the schedule when deciding which division to enter; different divisions of an event are on different days.
To be permitted entry into the championship division of an event that has standards, the athlete must have achieved the standard in a meet this school year. Marks from last year, summer track, time trials, or conversions (except when noted below) are not accepted.
Meet management will be reviewing the entries and rejecting marks that do not meet the standards published. The entry deadline will not be extended to allow for corrections of seed times that are provided incorrectly. Not providing a seed time for an event with a standard will result in rejection of the entry. A best effort will be to stay on top of the entries, but early entry is the best option. You can update a seed time after entry, if an athlete improves.
The running event polices for the championship division are found below.
Each team will receive 1 relay entry in the 4x100, 4x400, and 4x800.
The field event polices can be found below. For all events by distance (Shot, Disc, Long, Triple, Jav), all athletes will receive 3 attempts. The top 10 marks from prelims will receive 3 more attempts in finals. Athletes will be ranked by their best mark from prelims or finals.
In the vertical jumps, please note the opening height. Entering athletes who cannot clear the opening bar is a disservice to yourself, your athlete, and your coaching peers.
Each athlete will have their first legal mark be measured. All subsequent marks must meet the minimum mark threshold for the event. This is done to keep the meet moving quickly.
The following events will also have an invitational section, which has no standard to enter. Every team will get 2 entries to all of these events.
The Invitational 3200 will be all entries from the Championship 3200 except the top 30. You will enter all your athletes in the Championship 3200, meet management will move them to the Invitational division. The Invitational 3200 will be run on Saturday morning.
All field events will have a minimum distance to mark. All athletes' first legal mark will be measured. All subsequent attempts must be further than the minimum marks below.
The only JV event is the Mile. It will be contested on Thursday Night, a team is given unlimited entries into the JV Mile. Athletes in the JV Mile are only allowed to be entered in the JV Mile, if it is found that an athlete is in the JV Mile & another event, they will be removed from the non-JV-Mile event & their entry fee not returned.
Athletes will automatically be seeded by their best mark in the event in the Athletic.net database. Coaches can override their athletes seeds by providing a link to a meet where the mark was achieved. Time trial or purely speculative marks will not be accepted. There is an automatic conversion applied to the 1600 to the Mile. 300 Meter Hurdle marks will be accepted for entry into the 400 Meter Hurdles.
Meet Management reserves the right to seed events as they deem fit. For events run in lanes, the preferred lanes are 4-5-3-6-2-7-1-8. In cases when an alley is used, top seeds will be placed on the alley.
Check back soon for when we have announced our Wavelight policy.
